Why we retain data
AlphaHost retains different categories of information for different lengths of time, depending on why it exists: some data exists only to run your active account, while financial records exist to meet accounting, tax, and dispute-resolution obligations that don't end when an account does.
Active account data
Profile information (name, email, phone, company, address) is retained for as long as your account remains active, and you can update most of it yourself at any time from your account settings.
Financial and billing records
Invoices, receipts, and payment transaction records are retained beyond account closure or deletion. This isn't an oversight. Accounting and tax obligations require these records to persist independent of what happens to the account that generated them, and AlphaHost's data model deliberately protects this financial history from being removed as a side effect of closing an account.
Account deactivation
Deactivating your account blocks sign-in and pauses non-essential communications (like the newsletter), but keeps your data intact in case you reactivate. Nothing is deleted at this stage.
Account deletion
Deleting your account anonymizes your personal profile information. Your invoices, receipts, and payment records are kept (not deleted) for the reasons above. They're retained in a form that no longer identifies you for purposes beyond what's legally required, wherever that's possible without undermining the record's accounting purpose.
Backups
Routine backups are retained for a limited period to protect against data loss and support disaster recovery. Data deleted or anonymized from the live platform may persist in backups for a period after the request, until those backups themselves age out of the retention window.
Deletion requests
You can request account deletion from your profile settings, or contact us via Contact & Support for assistance. We'll confirm what will and won't be removed given the financial-record obligations described above before proceeding.
Legal obligations
Where a legal obligation, regulatory requirement, or ongoing dispute requires us to retain specific information for longer than described above, that obligation takes precedence.
